#4 Bombers Sweep Hartwick, Remain Undefeated in Conference Play

ONEONTA, N.Y. -- The fourth-ranked Bombers extended their winning streak to 12 games with a doubleheader sweep of Hartwick, winning 9-1 and 17-0, both in five innings. The Bombers are 8-0 in conference play and are in sole possession of first place. The Bombers have outscored their opponents 122-4 during their current win streak.
 
In the first game, the Bombers took a 2-0 lead on a two-run home run by senior Kaitlyn Dulac (Bay View/East Greenwich, R.I.), her first of the season. The Bombers plated four runs in the second, two in the third and one in the fourth for the win. Hartwick did score a run in the fourth inning on two hits, snapping the Bombers consecutive shutout streak at a school-record 10 games. It was the second time this season an Empire 8 team has scored against the Bombers. Dulac added two more hits to finish the game 3-for-3 with three RBI’s and two runs scored. Sophomore Nicole Cade (Beaverton/Portland Ore.) improved to 12-1 on the season, allowing two hits and striking out two in three innings. Cade has not allowed a run in her last 32 innings pitched and has won her last six starts. Freshman Allie Markovits (Middletown/Middletown) made her fourth relief appearance of the season, allowing one run on three hits in two innings.
 
In the second game, the Bombers collected 18 hits en route to their third double-digit run total in their last six games. After going scoreless in the first inning, the Bombers scored four runs in the second, eight in the third and five in the fourth. Junior Mel Chinigo (Norwich Free Academy/Norwich, Conn.) went 3-for-3 with a double, three RBI’s and three runs scored. Sophomore Erica Cutspec (Fort Plain/Fort Plain) had two hits, including a double, and drove in three runs. Sophomore Stacey Pelesz (Hudson/Livingston) hit her first-career home run, a two-run shot to left center, in the third inning and finished with three RBI’s as well. Sophomore Carly Myers (Claremont Secondary/Vancouver/British Columbia, Canada) allowed one hit in four innings for her 11th win of the season.
 
The Bombers (24-2, 8-0 Empire 8) visit Cortland (14-6) for a doubleheader Wednesday at 3 p.m.
